We live in a world that fills our heads with grandeur. Daily we are brought face to face with things that boast of self-fulfillment and turn our eyes inward. We grow numb and slowly begin to invest in the “American Dream” of being wealthy, attaining and maintaining a status, living our lives solely for ourselves. If we invest long enough, we eventually think we own all rights to ME, MYSELF, and I.

If we look to the Bible, we find that it is God who really has all the rights to our lives. The pages of Scripture tell us that, “in Him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28).” God does want to move through us and do spectacular things if we are willing to step aside and relinquish the rights that we think we have. As John the Baptist said a couple thousand years ago, “He must increase but I must decrease (John 3:30).” After all, it’s Not About Us.
